I'd never considered the prospect that some people might cheat at playing Helldivers 2. But I suppose it's inevitable given some people will find ways to cheat at anything. In this case, rogue Helldivers have found ways to game super credits—the premium currency used to buy Warbonds—to earn them at impossible rates, and it's become such a problem that Arrowhead has implemented new ways to tackle it.

According to a Bloomberg report this week, a new Fallout game is coming from Obsidian Entertainment, the developers responsible for Fallout: New Vegas. Some of us have been hoping for a followup to that RPG for 15 years or more, and now we might finally get our way. Unfortunately, those reports outlined bad news to go with the good: the project is apparently being built in place of a sequel to Avowed that had begun development but now is canceled, in the wake of some major layoffs at Obsidian and across Xbox, its parent company.

Dream delight
Image: SegaWhen Sega released its 32-bit Saturn console in 1994, it was inevitable that the platform’s speedy mascot, Sonic the Hedgehog, would get a star turn on the new hardware. But the team behind the blue blur didn’t release a new Sonic game right away. Instead, they made a forgotten roller-coaster 3D platformer called Nights into Dreams, which was released in Japan on July 5, 1996.

Grand Theft Auto 3's Ghost City was my first proper experience of community discovery.
I was too young to fully appreciate game-breaking in the likes of Super Mario and Alex Kidd, so the idea of flying the clipped-wing Dodo aircraft from the runway of Frances International Airport at a very specific angle in order to break the 3D map and wind up in an otherwise inaccessible area—the section which housed the game's opening bank robbery cutscene, floating well beyond the playable map—blew my teenage mind.

Check it out on Tubi
Image: UniversalAfter 11 movies in the Fast & Furious franchise, it can be hard to remember which one is which. Like, I know Ludacris and Tyrese Gibson go into space in one of the more recent ones, but I’m not sure which. I also recall Gal Gadot dying during a big showdown on an airport runway, but I have no idea what movie that is either.

Well? Do tell!
Another horrendously hot Saturday, another wedding to go to. I am all in favour of love, but could we please reschedule it to a cooler day in the year? Mercifully this one's a London wedding and it can be reached and returned from on the tube. Though travelling on a hot carriage and not arriving looking like a boiled saveloy pressed into a too-small suit will be a challenge.

Microsoft's brutal cuts won't stop id from making games
Image: Id Software/Bethesda Softworksid Software was one of the studios hit hard by Microsoft's devastating layoffs and cutbacks across Xbox this week, but the developer behind Doom and Quake said Friday it will continue on, making games and developing its world-famous tech. The Texas-based studio issued a statement in response to reports that id had been slashed in half, and that “most (if not all) coders” at the company had been cut.
