VERDICT
Overview
The A6 is the quintessential Audi luxury sedan, combining a silken driving experience with a premium cabin, high-tech features, and contemporary design. Its exterior styling is less flashy than rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz E-class, which adds a layer of stealthiness to the Audi's unique character.
All models come with a turbocharged V-6 that makes 362 horsepower and drives all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. The A6 is a performer, quick on its feet with smooth acceleration and athletic handling that gets even more capable when equipped with the optional air-spring suspension system and adaptive dampers.
Expert Tip:
What's New for 2027?
Audi shifts the A6 lineup to a single Premium trim this year. Most of the features reserved for last year's Premium Plus and Prestige trims remain as optional extras, while others—including a heated steering wheel, a 360-degree camera system, and a leather-wrapped airbag cover on the steering wheel—are now standard.
A new Driver Assistance package includes an integrated dash cam, a head-up display, and a self-parking feature. A new Executive package adds more luxury items, including a Bang & Olufsen stereo, dual-pane acoustic glass for the A6's side windows, and a 10.9-inch touchscreen in front of the front-seat passenger. Sporty features are included in the new Vorsprung package, including an adaptive air-spring suspension system and all-wheel steering.

Pricing and Which One to Buy
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
- Engine: 362-hp turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6
- Transmission: 7-speed dual-clutch automatic
- Drivetrain: all-wheel drive
A 362-hp turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 is standard and comes with all-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Models equipped with the Vorsprung package come with a more aggressive suspension with a slightly reduced ride height; an adjustable air-spring suspension system is also optional, and features ride height adjustments as well as adaptive dampers.
You can also equip the A6 with a rear-wheel steering system for more parking-lot maneuverability. When we drove the A6, we found it to offer a refined and energetic driving experience, with responsive steering and a quiet cabin. The Vorsprung package is even more agile and turns this luxury sedan into more of a driver's car.
0–60-MPH Times
- C/D 60-mph Test: 4.3 seconds
In Comparison: The A6’s acceleration results put it 0.1 second ahead of the Mercedes-Benz E450 4Matic we tested but 0.2 second behind the BMW 540i.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
- C/D 75-mph Highway Test: 38 mpg
- EPA City Rating: 20 mpg
- EPA Highway Rating: 29 mpg
The EPA estimates that the A6 should deliver 20 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 23 mpg combined. On our 75-mph highway fuel economy route, it overachieved in a big way, delivering a result of 38 mpg. For more information about the A6's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
First Row: The A6’s cabin is spacious, and the materials dressing the interior are top-notch. Most everything is wrapped in cloth, faux leather, faux suede, or real hides, and ambient lighting throughout the interior adds to the premium feel. A large glass roof floods the interior with light and can be adjusted to be transparent or opaque. Four-zone automatic climate control system is optional, as is an air purification system.
Second Row: Head and legroom are plentiful in the A6's back seat, and two adults should easily find it comfortable. Rear climate controls come with the optional four-zone automatic climate control system.
Cargo Capacity: The 14 cubic-foot trunk held 6 carry-on suitcases in our testing with the seats up, and 15 cases with the rear seats folded.
Infotainment and Connectivity
- Infotainment: 14.5-inch touchscreen, 10.9-inch passenger touchscreen (optional)
- Connectivity: Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Audio System: 10-speaker stereo (standard), 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo (optional), 20-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo (optional)
A massive bank of displays dominates the A6’s dashboard. All models come with a 14.5-inch central touchscreen and an 11.9-inch digital gauge display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both standard. An optional 10.9-inch front passenger display is available and allows the passenger to stream video content that can’t be seen by the driver. A head-up display is also optional.
A 10-speaker stereo is standard. Two different premium stereo systems are available, both tuned by Bang & Olufsen, with either 16 or 20 speakers. The 20-speaker setup includes two speakers in each of the front-seat headrests.

- Limited Warranty: four years or 50,000 miles
- Powertrain Warranty: four years or 50,000 miles
- Complimentary Maintenance: three years or 30,000 miles
