On Friday, August 28, indie developer Ryan Laley posted a video on X to say his Gamescom 2026 attendance was being cut short after discovering that all his team's laptops had been stolen from its booth during an alleged overnight theft. As the great Aretha Franklin taught us, it’s usually a backhanded approach to begin a critique with praise for the gowns. Or gown, in the case of “Sacred Creatures,” a microbudget hothouse drama otherwise not given to ostentatious styling. Still, it’s a pretty defining dress. Worn for the bulk of the running time by enigmatic focal character Miriam (Olivia Luccardi), it’s both shapeless and striking, equal parts haute couture showstopper and military parachute, while even its color is hard to pin down: regal gold in some lights, bilious chartreuse in others. In a tall tale of a fey outsider elevated to cult-leader status by a passionate mob, costume designer Francesca Cibischino is to be commended on creating a garment that captures both the otherworldly godliness that others see in its wearer, and the girlish absurdity that we do.

LG sells the most OLED TVs, which shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Usually the current year model is quite expensive and I typically recommend getting the prior year model for significant cost savings. This time around, however, there's a great deal on a 2026 LG OLED TV that you might not want to miss.

When Texas voters heard in 2023 that the state legislature had passed a law that would add a $1 fee to their car insurance bills, they probably didn't mind too much. Catalytic converter thefts were up at the time, and they were told the dollar would fund efforts to reduce those thefts. What they probably didn't expect was that a new Texas Tribune investigation would reveal the state spent tens of millions of dollars generated from that $1 fee on Flock cameras that keep everyone in the state under constant surveillance.
The 1980s were great for a lot of reasons, especially when it comes to popular entertainment. Classic movies like Back to the Future, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, E.T., and The Empire Strikes Back dominated the box office. TV shows like Cheers, ALF, and The Golden Girls dominated primetime TV, while the Saturday morning cartoon lineup included Transformers, Masters of the Universe, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
