Why Your Hands Swell When You Run or Walk, and What to Do About It

I wear at least three rings every day—wedding and engagement bands, and an Oura ring as a fitness/recovery tracker. But in the summer, I often find myself taking them off before I go for a run. If I don’t, sometimes they’ll be stuck. This is a common problem, especially in hot weather. Here's what's going on, and what you can do about it.

Arc Raiders reveals it's been successfully targeting item duplication exploits as the percentage of players with 'unusually high profit per minute' drops below 1% for the first time in months

There's been more duplication exploits in Arc Raiders at one point or another than I can shake several suspiciously identical sticks at. It's the get rich quick scheme that a lot of raiders opt in to, there's been multi-million rubber duck hauls and prisons made of just ziplines. It seems like there's no end to the creativity of a dupe exploit, but Embark has confirmed that it's been cracking down on them.

Like a shelf in an old house, the Earth collects a lot of dust from its surroundings. This "space dust" is mostly made up of micrometeorites that survive atmospheric entry and provides researchers with a cheap and easy way to obtain samples to study our cosmic neighbors. However, it can be difficult to determine which objects certain samples originated from if their parent bodies aren't already in available catalogs. A recent study, published in Science Advances, describes a new subset of space dust with such mysterious origins and how researchers are tracking down potential sources.

Matt Damon Says Christopher Nolan Filmed a 60-Foot Cyclops Puppet in a Real-Life Cave for The Odyssey, Rather Than Just Relying on CGI

Matt Damon has revealed how Christopher Nolan depicted The Odyssey's Cyclops without resorting to 100% CGI.

Speaking via the Good Hang podcast, Damon revealed that the crew built a real 60-foot tall puppet of the Cyclops in a cave. Unlike a normal film production which would do all of this work on a soundstage or in front of green screen with a CGI version of the Cyclops, Nolan did as much of it in-camera as possible. The team built a set inside of a real location known as Psychro Cave, which is where Zeus is believed to have been born in Greek mythology.

In mammals, hair follicles emerge during embryonic development, forming geometric patterns that vary from one species to another. But how is the position of each hair determined? A team from the University of Geneva (UNIGE) has shown that a simple mechanism based on the movement of cells in response to chemical signals can reproduce the formation of hair follicles in two mammalian species.
